
Inventory...
The Redcliff Public Library has over 20000 books on its shelves. In addition, there are 1108 compact discs providing musical enjoyment for those who request it. There are also 1071 video cassettes and DVDs. Selections of best sellers and classics are featured on approximately 1043 talking books on tape and CD for those who would rather "hear" a book than read it. The Redcliff Public Library has 70 magazine subscriptions and two daily newspapers covering every aspect of one's needs. There are 36 Children's Kits and 20 CDROMs.
Hours of Operation...
The Redcliff Public Library is open daily, Monday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday. The library is closed on the following statutory holidays: New Year's Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Programmes...
The Redcliff Public Library offers programmes for young and old. During the Summer months when school is out, the library offers the Summer Reading Programme for those 6 to 12 years of age. In addition from January to April and September to December "Sing with me, Read with me" Programmes are offered to pre-schoolers. During Redcliff Days in June the Redcliff Public Library holds its annual book sale where you set the price you want to pay.
Patron contributions...
Patrons can contribute to the purchase of materials by donating magazine subscriptions, providing memorial publications in the name of loved ones and in general donate books to the library. In addition, the library has library pins for sale at $3.00 each or two for $5.00.
Borrowing Policies...
The borrowing period for books, audio books, audiocassettes, magazines or CD's is 21 days and for videos, DVDs or reference materials is 7 days. All overdue fines are $.25 per day for adults and $.10 per day for children. Membership fees to the library are as follows: Free for children 17 years and under, Adults $6.00 and a family membership is $14.00. Memberships are available to individuals and families in Redcliff and the area. The Redcliff Public Library has other services available to the public: the FAX machine is available during library hours, the fees are: long distance, first page - $1.00 all other pages - $0.50, local or 1-800 numbers - $.50 and incoming messages are $.25. The FAX number is 548-6295. A computer printout will cost you $.15, photocopies are $.15.
Other Services...
The Redcliff Public Library has five computers with Internet access available for patron use. We also have 1 for children's games. Included in the public access computer are many CD ROM Programmes. Print services are available from all computers. Ask at the desk for more information or call 548-3335
The Staff and Board...
The library has one full time staff member and five part time members. The Redcliff Library Board consists of ten members whose terms are for three years. The Board members are appointed by the Town of Redcliff through solicitation of the Redcliff residents. The Redcliff Public Library is governed by the Alberta Libraries Act and by the Library By-Law of the Town of Redcliff.
